JOUR 2, Blog 1

I grew up with all sorts of media; especially movies, books, and radio. Today my use of mass media devices has progressed quite a bit. I went through a phase growing up where I hated to read because I was being forced to do so, but in high school I was given a kindle for Christmas and for almost a year I wouldn’t leave the house without it. I  can only read things that really grab my attention, such as murder mysteries and non-fiction dramas. I prefer to get my news from the television in the morning while I get ready for the day, rather than sitting down and reading the newspaper. The news is constantly changing, so if you want the most current events, then the t.v. is the way to go. I enjoy reading magazines, especially People, which I have a subscription to. I do not follow any celebrity gossip unless I read it in a magazine. I love watching movies, I practically grew up only watching Disney movies. My favorite genre is romantic comedy, but I also love horror, and motivational true stories. I don’t listen to any sort of audio unless it’s the radio; I love jamming to the radio every time I am in my car, I love all music except scream-o. I watch t.v. everyday, probably more than I should. It’s a really good background noise to not feel alone. There are plenty of good shows out there and it’s surprisingly taught me a lot. I am definitely not a tech-savvy person so I really only use the computer when I have to, typically for school. My phone is the only sort of internet I use on a daily basis. I am constantly multitasking with all sorts of mass media devices, usually my phone and television. I originally became a communications major because I wanted to be on t.v., specifically a game show host. Public speaking is my passion and I love making people laugh, so I think a career in mass media would suit me well. I plan on transferring to Syracuse University in New York this coming spring.

  2. I love my Kindle. I'm reading more books than I used to, but probably not as high-quality books.

  3. I might have to try one of those kindle things, much like you I was dreadfully pushed to read a bunch of books that were.. not quite what I was in to haha. Never really found my way out of that hole. You should definitely go for being a game show host, that sounds like an amazing career and I bet you'd be awesome at it! Good luck in new york!

  4. I also spent a lot of time on TV programs, but it's part of my assignment, lol, my ESL professor told us to watch TV more often since it can help correct our accent.

  5. I agree with the kindle encouraging reading. Im a person who never reads, but when i downloaded a book app on my phone i read three books in the two week trial period it gave me. I also leave the T.V. on as background noise as I'm doing other things, its odd but funny to know so many people in our generation so the same thing
